Sewing Patterns We Love

The beginning of a new year is a great time to take up a new hobby, and especially in the dark days of winter it is good for the soul to do something with your hands.

Sewing is part of our identity here at Cluth, and if we were to recommend any new craft for 2021 that would be it. We know its difficult to know where to get started though, so here are some of our favourite beginner sewing patterns. We know you will love them as much as we do!!

Beginner

Why we love it: Zero waste, size inclusive, this dress is such a fantastic beginners project as it has simple lines and also has great customising options.

Pattern: Wikstein Haori

Why we love it: Modern shape that is a great skill builder with the construction. Keep it simple and don't add a lining.

Pattern: Seamwork Joss

Why we love it: Great beginner trouser project, and a skillbuilder with an elasticated waistband. Seamwork also has so many great tutorials for the tricky bits.

Ambitious beginner

Why we love it: This dress is a stunner that can look a variety of ways depending on the fabric and also is good practice for techniques such as gathering.

Why we love it: Great way to practice darts and shaping with a dramatic dress.

Why we love it: Great all round shape with interesting construction!

These are just a few of the great independant pattern designers out there, do you have any go to beginner patterns you would recommend? Please let us know in the comments!
